LET US MOVE ON INTO A REVIVAL!

Open Letter to Dr. John Huffman of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church of Newport Beach, California

March 18, 2001

Dear John:

I read the news account of the controversy within the Presbyterian Church (USA) in the Sunday, March 18th issue of the Orange County Register over clergy led same-sex ceremonies. I was not surprised at the many Presbyterian churches that are conforming to our culture with its' homosexual ideals. My surprise was over your vigor in trying to stem the tide of non-Biblical influences upon the denomination. For twenty four years you have been fighting the fleshly passions of homosexual thought from taking over the denomination. Some correction is needed within any church or denomination but not for twenty four years. Let the pseudo-Christians have the denominational organization. People like the Reverend from Tustin Presbyterian don't have a clue about repentance and the wrath of God. Let's face it, the wrath of God will be revealed in due time (Romans 1:18) upon those subverting the Truth of Scripture. I will now give you Biblical and historical reasons for St. Andrew's Presbyterian church leaving the denomination.

The apostle Paul when he was in Athens tried to reason (Acts 17:17) with the people. What did the philosophers say about Paul? They called him a babbler. (Acts 17:18) So don't be surprised if most of the Reverends within the denomination think you are a babbler. When Paul actually received a chance to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the assembled philosophers at the Areopagus, his message was cut short and he was mocked by most. (Acts 17:32) Only a few people believed and Paul left for Corinth. When Paul arrived in Corinth, he was worn out by the philosophers but was determined to preach Christ crucified. (1 Corinthians 2:2-5) John, stop trying to reason with the pseudo Christian philosophers of the denomination. They are wearing you out and abusing the gift God has given you. Preach the word John and let the pseudo Christian philosophers have the denomination and be damned. (2 Timothy 4:2-5)

The "Great Awakening" Christian revival in England did not occur within the organized denominational Church of England. It occurred out in the open fields with the common people. George Whitefield and John Wesley were shut out of their denominational church pulpits for preaching the word of God. But our God who is dynamic led them to preach in the open fields to the unchurched masses. This is how the biography of John Wesley captured the move of God in 1739. "'Preaching outside makes my skin crawl,' he admitted to himself that night. Yet the next morning he awoke singing a hymn." John, never be afraid of leaving a denominational setting. God may very well have the best ministry years of your life ahead of you. The unchurched masses of our day do not care what is happening within the denomination. For a revival to occur in our culture will require bold Spirit-led Christians to preach the gospel. Again, let the pseudo Christian philosophers have the denomination and be damned. (Matthew 23:23-28)

John, I am concerned about you. If you want to be a Luther, Whitefield or a Wesley, you will have to leave the denomination. O John! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and vain babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge. By professing it, some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.

Yours in Jesus Christ,
