"PARTICIPATION" IN THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
Pages 122-123: 1 Corinthians 10:16: "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?" This verse again allows us to observe, in a nutshell, traditional Protestant controversies in their own ranks. Catholics interpret it literally, but Protestants differ among themselves.
Note: Christians will interpret this verse spiritually since we are not literally bread.
1 Corinthians 10:17 For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.
