Florida: Imam says 9/11 was false flag hoax to give impression that ‘Islam is violent. Islam equals terrorism.’

The idea that the U.S. government had to stage 9/11 in order to associate Islam with terrorism founders on a few inconvenient Qur’an quotes that do very well on their own to associate Islam with terrorism.

“We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve because they ascribe partners to Allah, for which no justification has been revealed. Their dwelling is the fire, and wretched is the dwelling place of the wrongdoers.” (Qur’an 3:151)

“When your Lord inspired the angels, I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then strike the necks and strike their fingertips.” (Qur’an 8:12)

“Make ready for them all that you can of force and of warhorses, so that by them you may strike terror in the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others beside them whom you do not know. Allah knows them. Whatever you spend in the way of Allah, it will be repaid to you in full, and you will not be wronged.” (Qur’an 8:60)

In his July 18, 2025 Friday sermon, Florida imam Muhammad Musri, president of the organization American Islam and chairman of the board of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, said that 9/11 was “the biggest lie in human history” and an orchestrated false flag operation aimed at launching the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. He claimed the attacks were designed to blame Muslims and equate Islam with terrorism in order to prevent the spread of Islam in the West and “extinguish the light of Allah.”

American Islam, which has centers in several U.S. cities, is described as a “national organization representing and working to empower moderate Islam” on its website. According to his biography on the American Islam website, Muhammad Musri serves as an advisor on Islam and Muslims to various U.S. government agencies, and he is a member and past co-chairman of the Interfaith Council of Central Florida, and is president of the Leaders Preparatory School. In a 2024 sermon, he said that Muslims are buying shuttered churches and converting them into mosques, adding that those communities will become Muslim.

Muhammad Musri: “[They say:] ‘Look at 9/11! The 19 hijackers!’ This is the biggest lie in human history. There were no 19 hijackers. This was orchestrated, and was done as a false flag operation in order to cause the Afghan War and the Iraq War and all of that. And it’s exposed.

“This whole lie is exposed. Many of the people that they said were hijackers were still alive in their countries. Planes didn’t survive, but the passport made of paper survived. All the experts know, and it is clear, that this is all false. But they want to blame it on Muslims because, as Allah said: ‘They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths.’ They’re afraid of Islam spreading in the West, spreading among Americans and Europeans, because it’s the truth, so they want to create this barrier and say: ‘Islam is violent. Islam equals terrorism.'”
