Lovingkindness of God
1) Call on God according to your trust in His lovingkindness.
I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear
to me and hear my speech. Show Your marvelous lovingkindness with Your
right hand, O You who save those who trust in You from those who rise
up against them. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the
shadow of Your wings, from the wicked who oppress me, from my deadly
enemies who surround me. Psalms 17:6-9
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore, the children of
men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly
satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from
the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; In
Your light we see light. Psalms 36:7-9
Note: Jerusalem was destroyed as they did not trust Jesus Christ.
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones
those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children
together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not
willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; and assuredly, I say
to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, Blessed
is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’” Luke 13:34-35
2) The lovingkindness of God is everlasting.
Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, for
they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my
transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, for Your goodness’
sake, O LORD. Psalms 25:6-7
Note: In the Holy Spirit, the love and mercy of the Father and Son is eternal.
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking
for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude 1:20-21
3) Believers will proclaim the righteousness, lovingkindness, and truth of God.
I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness in the great assembly;
Indeed, I do not restrain my lips, O LORD, You Yourself know. I have
not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your
faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your
lovingkindness and Your truth from the great assembly. Psalms 40:9-10
Note: Believers will proclaim Jesus Christ.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being
witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God,
through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there
is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is
in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood,
through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His
forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously
committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that
He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Romans 3:21-26
4) Repentance leads to forgiveness of sins in the lovingkindness of God.
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According
to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. Psalms
51:1-2
Note: Have you confessed your sins to God?
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
5) The lovingkindness of God will result in the singing of praises.
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise
You. Thus, I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in
Your name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and
my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. Psalms 63:3-5
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your
name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and
Your faithfulness every night, on an instrument of ten strings, on the
lute, and on the harp, with harmonious sound. For You, LORD, have made
me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.
Psalms 92:1-4
Note: In heaven, perfect praise will be to the Father and the Son.
Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the
twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and
golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And
they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and
to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by
Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and
have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the
earth.” Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the
throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them
was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying
with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power
and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”
And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the
earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard
saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on
the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!” Revelation 5:8-13
6) God is the source of forgiveness, healing, and lovingkindness.
Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy
name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who
forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems
your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and
tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your
youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalms 103:1-5
Note: God is rich in mercy and love toward us in Jesus Christ.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He
loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together
with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together,
and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that
in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in
His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7
7) Lovingkindness of God leads to trust in God.
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I
trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up
my soul to You. Psalms 143:8
Note: Are you trusting Jesus Christ for eternal life?
But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes
followed Him, and He healed them all. Yet He warned them not to make
Him known, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the
prophet, saying: “Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in
whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him, and He
will declare justice to the Gentiles. He will not quarrel nor cry out,
nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets. A bruised reed He will
not break, and smoking flax He will not quench, till He sends forth
justice to victory; And in His name Gentiles will trust.” Matthew
12:15-21
And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are
sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves,
but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as
ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for
the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:4-6
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us
in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His
will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that
in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather
together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and
which are on earth—in Him. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance,
being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things
according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in
Christ should be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also trusted,
after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in
whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of
promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption
of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. Ephesians
1:7-14
