WATCHTOWER - MARCH 15, 1996

Page 8: His sacrificial blood would also validate the new covenant between Jehovah God and 144,000 humans, who would eventually rule with Jesus in heaven.

Correction: The new covenant is not limited to 144,000 humans.

So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many (not some). To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. Hebrews 9:28.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Romans 5:8-10.

To ALL who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints. Romans 1:7.

Page 8: Yes, the Lord's Evening Meal would be an annual event, just as the Passover had been.

Correction: No timetable is set on remembering the sacrifice of Jesus through Communion.

For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes. 1 Corinthians 11:26.

Page 8: Furthermore, those partaking of the emblematic bread and wine would be reminded of their future privileges as kings and priests in God's heavenly Kingdom.

Correction: Communion should remind people of the death of Jesus Christ for their sins.

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you."

Page 9: "They are in the world and I am coming to you. Holy Father, watch over them on account of your own name which you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are." (John 17:11)

Correction: Through mistranslating, the NWT says that the name of the Father is Jesus.

Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.

New King James Version.

Page 9: This includes obeying his command to observe the Lord's Evening Meal.

Clarification: We are also to partake emblematic bread and wine.

Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:54.

Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." Matthew 26:28-29.

Page 10: Chief among those disloyal to God are the clergy of Christendom.

Correction: True ministers of God will testify of Jesus Christ by means of the Holy Spirit.

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:5-6.

Page 12: Because Jehovah is supremely loyal, the apostle Paul could write, as recorded at Romans 8:38, 39: "I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God's love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Clarification: By sincerely believing (faith and trust) in Jesus Christ for eternal life, you will never be separated from God.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Romans 10:4.

Page 12: Yes, Jehovah assures us: "I will by no means leave you nor by any means forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)

Clarification: Jesus Christ must be God!

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8.

"And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matthew 28:20.

Page 15: To meet that challenge, we must heed the words found at 1 Peter 1:15,16: "In accord with the Holy One who called you, do you also become holy yourselves in all your conduct, because it is written: 'You must be holy, because I am holy.' " Loyalty to Jehovah God will cause us to obey him at all times, bringing our thoughts, words, and actions into harmony with his holy will.

Correction: The Holy One is a reference to Jesus Christ.

For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. Psalm 16:10.

Clarification: The will of God is that people will turn to Jesus Christ.

And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:40.

Page 16: Loyalty will move us to come to the defense of Jehovah God. What a fine example of that we have in Elihu! Job 32:2, 3 tells us: "The anger of Elihu...came to be hot. Against Job his anger blazed over his declaring his own soul righteous rather than God."

Correction: Elihu did not fully understand what was happening.

Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?" Job 1:8.

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: "Who (Elihu) is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge?" Job 38:1-2.

Page 16: Today, our God Jehovah is blasphemed in ever so many ways. It is claimed that he does not exist, that he is a part of a Trinity, that he torments people eternally in a burning hell, that he weakly is trying to convert the world, that he does not care about mankind, and so forth.

Correction: Jehovah is the Trinity. The Hebrew word 'elohim is defined as plurality. The singular form of 'elohim is the Hebrew word 'elowah. In the Old Testament the holy name of God Yahweh is coupled with 'elohim 915 times in 839 verses. To say Jehovah is not a plurality is truly denouncing His main characteristic.

Correction: There is eternal torment for those who have rejected Jesus Christ.

Then He will also say to those on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Matthew 25:41.

Page 16: This requires that we make use of every opportunity to bear witness to Jehovah's name and Kingdom.

Correction: Christians are to preach salvation through Jesus Christ.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8

But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 1:23-24.

What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice. Philippians 1:18.

Page 16: We now come to the matter of being loyal to Jehovah's visible organization. Certainly, we owe loyalty to it, including "the faithful and discreet slave," through which the Christian congregation is fed spiritually.

Correction: God does not use an organization but individuals to be His witnesses.

And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning. John 15:27.

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life; the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which, was with the Father and was manifested to us; that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:1-3.

Page 19: When there has been a disfellowshipping, loyalty requires that we back up the elders, not trying to second-guess whether there were sufficient reasons for the action taken.

Correction: We are to restore people to the fellowship of believers.

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:1-2.

Page 20: Yes, by remaining loyal we show that we view Jehovah as Universal Sovereign. Thus we can also have self-respect and the hope of everlasting life in Jehovah's new world.

Correction: We are to place our hope for eternal life in Jesus Christ.

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:13.

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope. 1 Timothy 1:1.

Page 20: To have a good relationship with Jehovah God, we must meet the challenge of loyalty to him by living up to his righteous requirements, by having nothing to do with his enemies, and by coming to Jehovah's defense in witnessing formally and informally. We must also meet the challenge of being loyal to Jehovah's visible organization.

Correction: A good relationship with God is by receiving Jesus Christ into your life.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. John 1:12.

Page 20: By meeting the challenge of loyalty successfully, we will be sharing in the vindication of Jehovah's sovereignty, and will be taking his side of the issue. Thereby we will win his favor and will receive the prize of everlasting life.

Correction: People who put their faith and trust (believes) in Jesus Christ will have eternal life.

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. John 3:36.

Page 21: We can see this by considering the deeds and qualities of Jesus Christ, who is so much like his heavenly Father.-Hebrews 1:3.

Clarification: Together the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are God.

But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom." Hebrews 1:8.

That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:2-3.

Page 23: If we keep on walking in the "path of justice," we will continue to receive instruction in righteousness under Kingdom rule.

Correction: Christ died in vain for those who adhere to their righteousness for means of attaining eternal life.

I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain. Galatians 2:21.

Page 24: He wrathfully wages war not only against Jehovah's earthly organization as a whole but also against each individual servant of God.

Correction: Satan will join organizations but his aim is to deceive people.

I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Revelation 2:9.

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:9

Page 25: The elder might take along a Wathctower or Awake! magazine so as to discuss an upbuilding article.

Correction: The Holy Bible should be used instead of magazines.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105.

Page 25: Christian shepherds will undoubtedly take special care of any who are like those described in these words: "The lost one I (Jehovah) shall search for, and the dispersed one I shall bring back, and the broken one I shall bandage and the ailing one I shall strengthen."

Clarification: Now lets see what the New Testament has to say!

I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. John 10:14-16.
