Page 4: Psalm 37:34 assures us: "Hope in Jehovah and keep his way, and he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see it."

Note: The New Testament assures us to place our hope in Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:12 And again, Isaiah says: "There shall be a root of Jesse; And He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, In Him the Gentiles shall hope."

1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope,

Page 5: True salvation thus involves more than a serene mental state. It means being saved from the destruction of this present wicked system of things and finally from death itself!

Note: Salvation comes through Jesus Christ.

John 1:12-13 But as many as received Him (the Son), to them He (the Father) gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I (Jesus) stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."

Page 5: How, then, can one gain true salvation? First Timothy 2:3, 4 answers: "(God's) will is that all sorts of men should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth."

Note: It is the Father's will that you know that the truth is Jesus Christ.

John 6:40 "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Page 5: He outlined the position his disciples would take when it came to political matters. (John 15:19) He established a global teaching program and commissioned his followers to share in it.

Correction: Jesus Christ told his disciples to be His witnesses.

Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Page 6: A necessary part of truly believing in Jesus involves worshipping the God that Jesus himself worships. Jesus prayed: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ." - John 17:3.

Correction: The Son never worshipped the Father but shared His glory.

Isaiah 42:8 I am Jehovah, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images.

John 17:5 "And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was."

Page 6: During his earthly ministry, the Son of God always directed attention to his Father and not to himself.

Correction: On numerous occasions, Jesus Christ drew attention to Himself.

John 11:25 Jesus said to her, " I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."

Page 6: He never claimed to be God Almighty. (John 12:49, 50)

Correction: On numerous occasions, Jesus Christ claimed to be God Almighty.

John 5:22-23 "For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him."

John 8:24 "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins."

John 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."

Exodus 3:14 And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'"

Page 6: On numerous occasions Jesus made his position in God's arrangement to his Father. (Luke 22:41, 42; John 5:19) Why, Jesus declared: "The Father is greater than I am." (John 14:28) Has your church taught you the true relationship between God and Christ?

Correction: Within God, the Father has authority over the Son while outside of God the Son has all authority. This is why Jesus never prayed using the name of Yahweh.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, " All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."

Page 6: Or have you been led to believe that Jesus himself is Almighty God? Your salvation depends upon having the correct understanding.

Note: Jesus Christ is Almighty God according the Holy Bible.

Revelation 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

Revelation 4:8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!"

Revelation 11:17 saying: "We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.

Revelation 22:7 "Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."

Revelation 22:12-13 "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last."

Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, " Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

Page 6: Most translations of the Bible have obscured God's name, rendering it "Lord." But in ancient copies of the "Old Testament," God's name appeared over six thousand times! Psalm 83:18 thus reads: "That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth."

Correction: Jehovah is not the name of God.

Jehovah, name of the God of the Hebrew people as erroneously transliterated from the Masoretic Hebrew text. The word consists of the consonants JHVH or JHWH, with the vowels of a separate word, Adonai (Lord). Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia, Vol. 15, page 24.

Page 6: Have you been taught to use God's name, Jehovah? If not, your salvation is in jeopardy, for "everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved"! - Acts 2:21; compare Joel 2:32.

Correction: Paul used Joel 2:32 to identify with the name of Jesus!

Romans 10:9-13 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame." For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For " whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."

Page 6: For example, the Bible admonishes: "Repent, therefore, and turn around so as to get your sins blotted out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the person of Jehovah." - Acts 3:19.

Correction: Peter was preaching the name of Jesus!

Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."

Page 7: Baptized Christians are saved in the eyes of God. (1 Peter 3:21)

Correction: Sincere confession of Jesus Christ as your Savior saves you in the eyes of God.

Luke 23:42-43 Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."

Page 7: During the coming destruction of this wicked world, God will save them completely by preserving them through that tribulation. - Revelation 7:9; 14.

Correction: True Christians will be killed in the coming world-wide tribulation.

Revelation 13:15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

Revelation 14:13 Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' " "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them."

Page 7: It is clear from this brief discussion that gaining salvation involves more than 'having the Lord Jesus in your heart.' It means taking in accurate knowledge of Jehovah God and Jesus Christ and making needed changes in one's life. Doing this may sound formiddable, but Jehovah's Witnesses are willing to help you in this endeavor.

Correction: By receiving Jesus Christ into your life, the Holy Spirit will sanctify your life.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Page 13: Some of his disciples, 144,000 in all, will live forever in the heavens. (Revelation 14:1-4) Thus some once-mortal humans will "put on immortality"! - 1 Corinthians 15:53.

Correction: There is no partiality with God.

Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality."

Page 14: By granting the 144,000 immortality, God indicates his complete confidence in this group that has so outstandingly answered Satan's challenge.

Correction: Heaven is not limited to 144,000 humans

Matthew 18:4 "Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Page 14: This implies that others will receive everlasting life on earth as subjects of his Kingdom. While these "other sheep" are not given immortality, they do receive "everlasting life." (John 10:16; Matthew 25:46)

Correction: The "other sheep" Gentiles will be combined with the believing Jews into one flock.

John 10:16 "And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

Romans 11:12 Now if their (Jews) fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Note: Immortality is everlasting life. Webster's Dictionary.

Page 14: Daniel's prophecy, for example, accurately describes the conflict between "the king of the north" and "the king of the south" that has extended into this century. (Daniel 11:5, 6) All that is left to be fulfilled is the final attack of "the king of the north," described at Daniel 11:44, 45. - See The Watchtower of July 1, 1987, and November 1, 1993, for a discussion of this prophecy.

Correction: The "king of the north" was of the Seleucid dynasty while the "king of the south" was of the Ptolimaic dynasty. These dynasties were formed after the death of Alexander the Great as prophecied in Daniel 11:4. Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia, Vol. 21, page 391.

Page 14: There is also Jesus' prediction that "this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:14) Today, Jehovah's Witnesses carry out their work in 233 lands, island groups, and territories.

Note: In the future, an angel will be preaching the true everlasting "good news."

Revelation 14:6-7 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth; to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people; saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water."
